RJ Wright & Son’s Cattle Champion takes home Royal Cornwall Perpetual Trophy
Royal Smithfield trophy for Best Pair of Lambs awarded to Robert West
Agrifest South West organised by the Devon County Agricultural Association and held at Westpoint, Exeter, on Wednesday 3 November 2021 saw the Royal Smithfield Club’s trophies awarded to both sheep and cattle winners.
In the live classes, winning the Primestock Cattle Championship and with it the Royal Cornwall Agricultural Association perpetual trophy presented by the Royal Smithfield Club was RJ Wright & Son, Bedlands Gate Farm, Bowers Hill, Somerton, Somerset with the homebred Limousin-cross steer 'Frankie'. Born in June 2020, this bullock is sired by the French-bred Limousin sire, Neymar, and out of a British Blue x Limousin dam and was slapped down by judge Mr D Cheacker, Bristol. Presenting the trophy was Chris Riddle, Secretary of the Royal Cornwall Agricultural Association & Chairman of the Royal Smithfield Club.
Taking home the Royal Smithfield Perpetual Challenge Trophy under Judge Robert Garth, Lancaster for the Best Pair of Lambs was the Beltex duo from Robert West, Park Farm, Collyweston. Pictured with Robert are Tom Franks, Clare Edworthy (Mole Avon) and Chris Riddle.
