Welcome to The Royal Smithfield Club

The Royal Smithfield Club was instituted as the Smithfield Cattle & Sheep Society in 1798 and founded as the Smithfield Club in 1802. Granted Royal Status in 1960, its Patron is Her Majesty The Queen. A registered charity, the Club’s objectives remain true to its founding principles namely working for the benefit of the public in promoting best practice in the production of quality livestock for the British meat industry. We aim to achieve these aims through a number of means including primestock shows, carcase competitions and technical demonstrations at key events in the UK. As a neutral body - yet one with a strong voice - the Club promotes knowledge and education to advance best practice in the meat and livestock industry. Whilst rightly proud of our heritage, Trustees, Officers and Members nevertheless strive to be at the forefront of change.
